Irish Fest 2005

Irish Fest 2005 was a successful event for Comhaltas Winnipeg. September 10th & 11th, 2005
at the Canadian Mennonite University

The building has plenty of classroom space for workshops and great hallways to meet and talk to people between workshops. The Concert Hall is large enough to hold 300 people, but it is still small enough to feel up close to the musicians on stage.

We were very lucky this year to have the Mulcahy Family from Limerick, Ireland. It was very exciting to be able to bring in this caliber of Traditional Musicians and to have them share their talents and their knowledge with us!

Our guests lead workshops in Harp, Concertina, Fiddle, Whistle, Flute, Uilleann Pipes and Accordion.

The group featured master accordionist Mick Mulcahy and daughters Michelle Mulcahy (Harp, Fiddle and Concertina) and Louise Mulcahy (Uilleann Pipes and Flute) and all together play traditional style with extraordinary depth and skill.

The group featuring Rebecca (Fiddle), D’Arcy  (Bazouki), Kyle (Tin Whistle) and Jeramy  (Flute) played as the warm up band and gave a great performance.

We would like to say ‘Thank You’ to all the people who made the Irish Fest a succsess and volunteered their time and efforts to bring this all together.

Please browse through the pictures and we hope you enjoy them.
