Comhaltas is sponsoring an Irish Set Dance weekend with Maureen O’Leary, including workshops on Friday Night, all day Saturday, a Saturday Night Ceili and an advance workshop on Sunday afternoon.

IRISH SET DANCING is lively social dancing done in squares of four couples. It does not require fancy footwork and beginners can quickly learn the basics. Join us for the Friday and Saturday workshops and you will be able to enjoy participating in the Saturday Night Ceili.

MAUREEN O’LEARY is a leading Irish dance teacher who leads set dancing classes and ceilis in Toronto, southern Ontario and across the country. Known for her energy and ability to get people involved, she also led our 2006 set-dancing weekend. We are pleased to have her back for another great weekend of dancing!

The four workshops take place at:

ST. LUKE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH on Stradbrook at Nassau

The Saturday night Ceili takes place at:

UNF HALL at 935 Main Street

{ 7:30pm ~ 10:30 }

The ADVANCE PRICE for the weekend is $35 for Comhaltas Members,

$40 for all others

The cost increases by $5 after February 23rd

Individual workshop sessions cost $12 for members, $15 for all others.

The SATURDAY NIGHT CEILI is an event with the McConnell School of Irish Dance who have kindly invited Comhaltas Winnipeg to participate in their fundraising event.

The Ceili will take place downstairs in the UNF Hall {7:30 ~ 10:30pm} while the dance school performances are taking place upstairs, including an Irish Set Dancing Demonstration by members of our Monday night set dance class.

There is no cost to participate in the Ceili & fundraiser, provided you have paid for at least one workshop session.

Food and refreshments will also be available.

Everyone is welcome to come out and participate, and those with some dancing experience are encouraged to join us for an ADVANCED WORKSHOP on Sunday afternoon.
